YOU TUBE!!!!!!!!!

Spinning Around!

*~ Hey Hey ~*

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUTUBE and GOOGLE VIDEO!
I could spend hours just searching topics and watching movies! its fantastic! You can find anything from music videos to cooking instructions and MORE!!
I think this would benifit our Library because we could upload a Video of our Library and make it sort of a virtual Tour! showing the inside and the outside of the Library as well as directions on how to get here!
We could also have Videos of different topics or a video a moth that people wanna watch like
"ask a Librarian"
Where one of us could sit down and talk about a topic of interent and how to research it or something!!!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I just found a really good video on Youtube but i cant find anywhere to embed it into my Blog?
At the moment its on there in a Video Bar...But there is 4 on the subject i wanted, How do i only get the specific one i want? and actually embed it properly onto my Blog.
I saw you can add video in the creating a blog page, but its uploading it from a saved file on the computer, and I dont have any saved videos on my computer and you cant save YouTube Videos straight to your computer.
If anyone could help me with this it would be fantastic! Im getting dizzy trying to work it out!!

CYA!

WIKI WIKI WIKI WIKI!!!

I just added information and made an entry in the NSW learning 2.0 wiki.

I Created a Trainee Link that I linked to library assistant (i felt very tricky) haha

I then responded to the questions asked, I said

"HEY ALL!! Im a Library Trainee, But only for a few more months - The best thing about being a Trainee is that you expand your horizons and LEARN SO MUCH!!! The best thing about working in a public library is that everyday you learn something new - everyday a patron wants a book on a different topic for a different reason! I love it because I have learnt about alot of things i never even knew existed! I love working with the public though i still get abit anoyed when they come in sick and coughing all over the place.
I dont know what people dont know about my role at the Library, Its pretty straight forward - I guess they dont know we sit out the back trying to understand learning 2.0 haha YAY!"

Just incase anyone was wondering! Its the

BRIGHT BIG YELLOW AND PINK ONE HAHA!

Twas very exciting! I love wikis now! dont know how i ever lived without then hehe

ANYWAYS Hoo Roo! Back to work I go!

Wowsers Wiki!!

Now I feel abit embarrassed because I thought i could come into this learning 2.0 and Blitz it, I've grown up with computers i dont even remember ever physically writing a letter to anybody! or Actually hand writing an essay!
I have HTML, facebook and myspace down to an art - But a WIKI! i NEVER actually knew what that ment or what it was for! i knew wikipedia but i did'nt realise that it was only ONE of MANY Wikis!

Oh how silly i feel!!
I think it is a WONDERFUL! idea - the concept of Wikis! I can go into horse sites and Add myself to Shows, RSVPs Etc without having to do all that silly e-mailing back and forth!
VERY GOOD!
I think it could get messy but applications within the library that could use a Wiki would be

STORYTIME!
people could talk about craft ideas, book ideas anything really!

UP COMMING EVENTS!
people could look on that wiki and Add their thoughts and ideas!

HOLIDAYS
So the public can see when our holidays are and add comments to let us know if we missed anything or if they need to organise around us!

THE LIST IS ENDLESS!!!!

I think that it is really a fantabulous idea for Libraries and i hope that in the future we can embrace it!

YEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAAAA

YAY RSS!!!!

What do you like about RSS and newsreaders?

The things i like most about RSS and newsreaders is that they save you alot of time and energy! I like this idea because it means you can do alot less and gain the same outcome or more!! I like that you can just add your fave webpages to your Feeds and then you get updates and information when it is uploaded instead of having to always check the webpages.

What sites did you select for your RSS reader?

I selected

Art Deadlines List
Bloglines News
National Geographic News: Animals & Nature
Powerhouse Museum - Photo of the Day
The Shifted Librarian

How do you think you might be able to use this technology in your work?

I think we could add important Library , news and community websites to our Feeds for our Library and be updated on new and current information instead of having to search websites for it. saving time and keeping us more involved and informed!!

How can libraries use RSS or take advantage of this new technology?

As i stated above I think that if each Library created an account on 'Bloglines' or something similar they could add feeds from their Local Government, Community, News and Other Library webpages Then each time one of those is updated we would know asap! making us ALOT mopre informed and aware of whats happening around us.

Did you find any good examples of other library blogs?

I found some but Im not sure if they were good examples, This website i found a bit daunting.

There we go Finally uploaded it

There we go
This is the Image of the sculpture i liked!!! I think i tried uploading it last time after i had already written my blog, u must have to have a blank page before trying to upload images, anywhoo Thats the picture so you dont have to look up the link

yay!

Flickr WOO HOO! :)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/auntie/102849108

Above is a link to the picture (because it would'nt upload) i liked most in flickr so far! Its a sculpture of books that remind me of artist Andy Warhol - The only information i could find on this sculpture was -

“Good as gold,” purchased at a cost of $34,000, stands eight feet high and is a continuous loop of books resting on steel feet. Holes drilled into the books were strung like beads onto a steel bar. Lipski stated that the project took “two to three months” from inception to completion. Most of the books looped into the sculpture came from the Book Barn in Bridgehampton, New York and were selected by Lipski based on size, color, and subject matter. As a special addition, a few books at the base of the sculpture are withdrawn items from The Kansas City Public Library's collection.
I think it would be amazing if we had a WHOLE line of these circles of books so it would be like a corridor and you could walk down it to get into the library! but you would have to make sure it was undercover of course in case of rain! it might get a tad soggy.

I think it is really creative and a fantastic idea!! I want one!! you cuold make a whole rainbow will all the different coloured books! the ideas go on forever!
